After feeding a gallon of mixed maggot, hemp and 2mm pellet on a plateaux at 40 yards, Carl presented three dead maggots and one buoyant artificial maggot on a helicopter rig.
He said: “It wasn’t until well after dark that I had my first proper bite and I knew I had connected with a big roach. To say I was elated is an understatement, and if I never caught another roach again I would die a happy man.”
