One major appeal to lure fishing is the fact that it’s easy to grab a quick session when a chance arises, and Callum Davies made the most of an hour-long Thames session, landing this 4lb 10oz perch.

He was fishing a dropshot tight to the side of a boat, and as he lifted his rod to twitch the lure, he felt a heavy resistance. Initially guessing it was weed, he was startled by a firm head shake and struck into a fish that gave a tough battle around the moored boat. When he got a glimpse of the it a rod length out, he realised the size of the perch he’d hooked. But thankfully, after a few short but powerful runs, the fish was his.
Well done Callum!
