A trip to Norfolk’s Bawburgh Lakes proved fruitful for Bruce Ruscoe, who landed half a dozen tench topped by this 10lb 15oz specimen. The session continues a fine run of form for Bruce, as he won the National Tench Championships at Linear Fisheries earlier this year.
On this trip though, he got amongst the larger fish, and had already landed an eight-pounder when he hooked what would turn out to be his new PB. Right away, Bruce knew it was a better fish, and he admits that his heart was in his mouth as he teased it through the weed into the waiting net. In addition to the near eleven-pounder, highlights of his catch included a 9lb 13oz female and an 8lb 3oz male.
His winning tactic was using the ever-popular worm kebab rig, which he cast to the back of a weedbed. At the business end, he filled his feeder with chopped worm and spombed a mixture of 1mm pellets, hemp, worm soil, and casters to the spot around 15 wraps out.
Well done Bruce!
