Thanks to Bedfordshire’s Brad Hollidge, aged 16, for this fine picture of a specimen River Ivel Chub he caught recently!
Brad used Supplex line to a size 8 Super Specialist hook to stalk the chub on a low clear Summer river using bread, and after feeding up a spot over several days, hooked this magnificent fish of 6lb 8oz!
“As soon as I got to my spot I saw 5 chub and a barbel on it! I quickly grabbed the rod, put a bit of bread flake on, cast past it and dragged it back. There were 5 chub and the biggest one went for it almost instantly! After a good scrap it was soon on my unhooking mat – a great start to the season!” explained Brad.
