Sean Manning from the American Carp Society caught these unusual buffalo carp with a Series 7 13ft Power Carp Waggler rod.
“I caught a brace of 28lb buffalo carp in Texas USA with your outstanding Power Carp Waggler,” he explained. “I have to say it is an absolute dream to play large, powerful fish like this with light tackle. I don’t know of many rods in the world that I could use 8lb line with a size 14 hook and play these right under the rod tip!
“I fished sweetcorn over hempseed and pellet with the occasional handful of bread soaked in lake water so it explodes on the surface and drifts down. Two kernels direct onto a size 14 hook to 8lb line with an oversize waggler at about 12ft in depth.
“Buffalo carp bite just like tench back home, very sensitive and the float moves just a few millimetres, but they are large and powerful fish. Last session I had about 150lb of fish to 28lb and they were all buffalo.
“It’s a great rod and the fish are right under the rod tip at 12ft (deep lake) so they have to be stopped pretty quickly because of snags. The rod really handles it well. I’ve used many rods over the years and have to say this is an absolute gem! I love the three-piece idea with handle extension. It probably has something to do with how well the rod performs. Even though it isn’t an ‘all through’ action it handles that aspect very well with the best of both worlds. Great job on whoever designed it.
“I’ll be purchasing another for my travels back home to England in the Summer for some large tench and bream. Excellent rod guys as always top craftsmanship and work!”
