Top carp angler & Cotswold Angling in Swindon manager Kev Hewitt has sent us this magical photo of a 3lb 5oz Perch!

Kev has been getting amongst some lovely stripeys over the festive period from Coate Water Park in Swindon – having fished a handful of day sessions to take a good number of fish over 2lb. Fancying a brief change from fishing for specimen carp, he tackled Coate with a Series 7 Puddlechucker 10ft Carp Feeder rod coupled with a Red Range Feeder reel.

The fish were tempted on Lobworms whilst fishing a paternoster rig comprising of 6lb Double Strength to a size 7 Super Specialist Barbel hook. Kev commented:

“It has been a breath of fresh air targeting the perch this winter. I had never even caught a 2lber before, and set my target at catching a 3lber – which I eventually achieved with this lovely fish! It seems to me that perch are very much neglected on many venues and to be honest, they really aren’t that hard to catch once you have found them. They really can be fantastic sport and bites can come thick and fast on even the toughest of days. Perch fishing has certainly brightened up my winter.”
