Andy Waters has landed three chub, including a new personal best, after making a decisive change to a different river.

“I have been fishing the River Waveney quite regularly this season and have only been managing high fours, so I decided to switch to the River Wensum, a river I have not fished for about three years.”

Andy’s move turned out to be very successful, banking two 6lb chub, one of them a new personal best at 6lb 4oz (pictured below) and the other exactly 6lb (pictured above). He also landed a third fish which went 4lb 15oz.

His approach was very simple, link legering small pieces of cheese paste on the crease of the river. Using 6lb Supplex line with two SSG shot pinched on to ease the bait through the swim and a size 6 Super Specialist hook.

“It’s been fairly tough finding the bigger fish but the change of river paid off hugely. I’m over the moon to have beaten my personal best. These were all caught using my newly purchased Drennan Medium Feeder Combo rod, too. An awesome bit of kit!” Andy enthused.
