A massive congratulations to Drennan Barnsley Blacks on winning the Angling Trust Winter League Final yesterday on the Gloucester Canal.
With bloodworm and joker allowed the match length fished much better than many anglers predicted with plenty of skimmers showing throughout the length, plus odd better bream, a few roach and eels.
With several of the Barnsley squad being tied up with international commitments leading up to the Final, and only £1,000 on offer to the winning team, Barnsley never put their usual amount of time and practice into this year’s Final. Instead, they simply turned up and attacked it. It certainly paid off, as despite only one section winner – Lee Kerry in F Section – their 81 points was enough to lift the trophy.
A single point behind was Daiwa Dorking on 80 points, with Drennan North West 3rd and Kamasan Starlets 4th.
Well done Drennan Barnsley Blacks!
