Rotherham angler Ash Morton has always dreamed of a thirty-pound pike, and whilst targeting a natural water during the middle of march, that dream became a reality when he landed this spectacular 39lb 4oz fish.
He’d had a tough campaign up to then, targeting a venue where there are two known large fish. The blanks had been mounting up, but after trying a new area, he had a take on a herring deadbait that he’d just repositioned. An uneventful fight followed before he saw a very big fish surface. Calling his friend John to help with the net, Ash described the feeling as the fish was landed as one he’s ‘never likely to match’. It’s ‘mammoth’ non-trout water pike, in his own words – a sentiment with which all anglers can agree.
Well done Ash!
