Thank you to Lowestoft, Suffolk’s Andy Waters for this fine picture of a recent 7lb 9oz Tench. Andy reports a tough spring to date on his Norfolk syndicate lake, so was understandably pleased with several recent 6lb and 7lb fish.
The fish above was fooled with the aid of a critically balanced artificial Buoyant Caster hookbait on a Super Specialist Barbel hook and Sink Braid hooklength. This was fished in conjunction with a 2oz Korum K-Grip lead, with a small amount of method mixed squashed around it and fished on the edge of a gravel bar.
“It’s still not too late for a double yet – though fingers crossed!” Andy told us.
