The River Lea has been in great form for big barbel in recent weeks, with Andrew Tredgett being one of the latest to get amongst the action with this impressive 16lb 7oz PB.
He had the fish from the iconic Kings Weir Fishery, and it continues Andrew’s great start to the season, having already landed with a 10lb 10oz bream from the stretch. He targeted a spot in the centre of the weir where he introduced a bed of hemp, pellets and squid boilies introduced via a baitdropper. Leaving the swim to rest for an hour before casting out his rig, baited with a 14mm dumbbell. Andrew’s anticipation built has he had a few bangs on the tip before his ancient centrepin screamed into life. A tricky battle under the rod tip followed, before he finally netted the fish.
Well done Andrew
