After catching a 13lb zander from the River Severn last year, Allan Pagett thought it’d take some serious beating. However, on a recent trip he blew that fish out the water with this huge 16lb 1oz specimen.
He was fishing from a boat with his friend Alex and hadn’t caught much on the first day of the trip. On the second day, he lost a fish and was left ‘gutted’, however he quickly recast and was soon in again. He guessed the fish was an intruding pike, but he was left in awe as a huge zander glid past the boat. Netting it at the first attempt, the fish measured nearly a metre in length, and after releasing it, the pair went onto land 20 other smaller ones by the end of the next day.
Well done Allan!
