Having seen that water temperatures were creeping up, he arrived on the river and was surprised to find his stretch of choice empty. Settling into a spot he’d found a few weeks earlier whilst leading about, Alfie targeted a near bank depression where he presented a garlic boilie alongside a PVA bag filled with whole and crushed baits of the same flavour.

Soon after dusk he had a slow run and lifted into a fish that he simply couldn’t stop.
Alfie knew right away he’d hooked something special, and after an epic battle, finally had the impressive fish in the net.
