Alan Taylor 19lb Barbel

Having spent two nights without a bite, Alan Taylor’s efforts paid off in style when he landed this 19lb barbel mid March.

Alan was fishing on the River Trent at Bob’s Island, where he sat it out in the popular point swim. Despite cold nights, Alan persevered with the fishing, and at 9pm on the third night of his trip landed a 12lb 2oz fish. At 5am the next morning, he had another bite and hooked what was clearly something bigger. After a memorable fight he landed the nineteen-pounder, with the fish falling to a bacon grill hookbait – an offering that’s produced for him previously on the stretch.

Well done Alan!
