Big eels are known for their fighting qualities, and this 6lb snake certainly lived up to their reputation when Alan Jump connected with it in the early hours of the morning.
Targeting a stillwater in North Devon, Alan fished a dead roach on a Dyson Rig, a size 4 hook and 12lb mainline. When he picked up the rod, the fish took line before embedding itself in a weedbed. By applying steady pressure, Alan managed to free the fish, and despite fishing the venue for many years, he was totally surprised by the size of the fish. It shatters the water’s record by 2lb.
Well done Alan!
