After finding a few big roach in a bay off the back of the wind, Aaron Marguet was rewarded with this specimen of 3lb 5oz, caught on the float!
He was targeting a reservoir and drip fed trimmed-down boilies, which he could see the fish intercepting on the way down. Having worked out that they were feeding around half-depth, Aaron set up a driftbeater float, and soon had a bite. The fish fought hard, stripping line and trying to bury itself in weed. But his size 10 held firm and he netted it at his third time of trying. He’s had a few other big roach from the venue, but says they’ve always been long and thin. This one was the opposite – fat and wide!
Well done Aaron!
