Ray Pulford braved the horrendous weather earlier this week to get out on the banks of the Kennet, to see if the influx of water would bring the fish on the feed.
“It was hard going with constant rain and a rising river, but you have to be in it to win it. I had been feeding little and often with pellets and Pallatrax bloodworm/maggot groundbait, and it all came good in the end. I managed to land my third 6lb chub in eight weeks from two rivers. This one at 6lb 10oz was an awesome looking fish, and upped my personal best by 4oz!” explained Ray.
It was caught using 10lb (0.26mm) mainline, a large Stonze weight and a 12 inch 8lb Supplex hooklink to a size 12 hook. The hookbait was a 10mm pellet, wrapped in Lone Angler Sausage Sizzle paste.
“I was fishing to a snag on the inside, so I had to have full faith in the line. Drennan Supplex has become my only line for nearly all of my specimen fishing. 100% reliable!”
