Having located the fish the evening prior to his session, Kane headed straight to the area the next morning. He caught all the perch in one blistering hour’s fishing, fishing a worm on a dropshot rig which he slowly twitched along, just off bottom. His set-up comprised of a light lure rod, 8lb leader and two SSG shot, giving him just enough weight to feel his way along the riverbed. Kane was sure the five-pounder was a pike when he hooked it, but after a few runs and dogged fight under the rod tip, the colossal fish surfaced. He admits that the rest of the session was a blur!
