This winter, George Webster has been obsessed with the chub on his local River Slea. It’s a tiny waterway in the east midlands that holds a shoal of good fish, which he can often see in summer. However..

.. come winter, locating them becomes an immense challenge, but it’s one that he’s been fully immersed in.
On an early march morning, cold and overcast morning, George’s efforts were rewarded with this superb fish of 7lb 2oz. It was caught on link legered cheesepaste and gave a few taps on the quivertip before pulling it around confidently. A fantastic fight followed, before he netted the new personal best.
Well done George!
