Since October, Zach Cooper has had his sights set on a truly big perch, and after landing a string two and three-pounders, he recently slipped the net under this 4lb 7oz specimen.

It was caught from a southern canal that he’d arrived at in the early afternoon. The sun was high in the sky, and he didn’t particularly fancy his chances. However, as dusk drew in a few clouds rolled over, and his small bobber float, beneath which a livebait was fished, began to slide away. Zach hit into what he knew was a good fish, and after a tense few minutes filled with heavy head shakes, he had this 4lb 7oz perch in the net. It was hooked lightly in the top lip, but thankfully his size 8 hook held firm.
Well done Zach!
