Taylor McCrossan was fishing the Grand Union Canal when he landed a hat-trick of four-pound perch, with the fish weighing 4lb 8oz, 4lb 4oz and 4lb exactly. They were caught in a manic 20-minute spell, with his friend Zach Cooper also getting in on the action, landing fish to 3lb 8oz.
The evening before that landmark session, Taylor had lost a very large perch, but with the image of that fish etched in his brain, he returned the very next evening. After catching 10 livebaits, he connected with a good fish five minutes into his first cast, but unfortunately lost it. Feeling gutted, he recast, and it wasn’t long before he put things right, landing the 4lb 8oz fish on the very next cast. This was soon followed by the other two four-pounders, marking an evening session he won’t forget in a hurry. Taylor presented his roach livebaits on a size 8 barbel hook fished below a size 4 Drennan Bobber Float.
Well done Taylor!
