On a recent trip to the iconic River Test, Dom Taylor landed this grayling of 3lb exactly that was backed up by no fewer than 25 other grayling, only two of which weighed under 1lb.
When he arrived at the stretch, he wasn’t quite sure how the session would pan out. The river ran clear and was weedier than he expected. But, after catching a fish of 2lb 2oz on his very first cast, any concerns soon disappeared!
Spending the day roving the river, Dom caught throughout the day, with a handful of two-pounders falling to his trotted maggots. In a short but deep glide, he hooked a powerful fish he assumed to be a trout, but after a hectic fight, landed the three-pounder – a fish that measured an impressive 50cm.
Well done Dom!
