Whilst there have been plenty of smaller barbel reported so far this season, there haven’t been that many specimens reported yet. However, that changed when John Alexander caught this fish of 17lb exactly from a southern river.
The fish fell to a Sticky Krill boilie which he fished alongside a PVA bag filled with pellets and broken boilies. A two-foot fluorocarbon hooklink and a size 10 Drennan Barbel hook made up his terminal tackle, and John also used a small back lead to keep everything pinned-down.
