Wanting a new challenge this season, Tony Kay decided to target big tench on a Cambridgeshire stillwater, but after 31 blanks you’d forgive him for heading elsewhere!
The water is a 350-mile round trip from his Merseyside home, but Tony’s determination paid off on a recent trip, when he landed this tench of 12lb exactly. The bite came around 8pm on the last night of his trip, with his rod screaming off out of nowhere.
Rubber casters fished on a Method feeder was the successful tactic, which he cast over a 10ft-deep spot 30 yards out where he’d fed maggots, hemp and casters.
Well done Tony!
