Heavy rain may not be the nicest to fish in, but it can certainly bring big fish out to play, as Ian Green found during a session on the Trent, where he landed this 18lb 8oz barbel.
The Specimen fell to a 20mm dumbbell boilie fished over mixed sized boilie loosefeed, which Ian introduced via catapult. After casting, Ian sat in heavy rain and had to regularly recast due to rubbish coming downriver. At around 12:30pm, he had a little tap on one of his rods before it hooped over, and he lifted into what felt like a dead weight before all hell broke loose, with it stripping 70 yards of line from Ian’s reel.
