Having travelled all the way from Essex to the tidal River Trent for 24hr session, Gary Adams was rewarded in style with this thick set 17lb 10oz barbel.
He started the session using traditional tactics, fishing hemp and maggot through a feeder, but hadn’t had a nudge after three hours. After seeing a fish roll, he switched over to a straight lead and paste wrapped boilie, he then proceeded to put 10 balls of groundbait in, packed with hemp and a bit of corn. No sooner had the last ball hit the water had Gary’s rod bend double and his baitrunner burst into life. A 10-minute battle followed, with the fish hugging bottom and taking him up and downriver. Finally, he saw the fish, and realised it was beyond anything he dreamt of catching.
Well done Gary!
