St Neots specialist Paul Elt with a superb big Spring Tench from last season, taken from his excellent article in the May issue of Coarse Angling Today. The Tench weighed in at 9lb 11oz and was fooled with scaled down carp tactics incorporating a Dynamite Baits Peach & Mango boilie presented on a 6lb hooklink and a size 14 Drennan Specimen Plus Hook, coming at first light after Paul had fished the night and he’d left the hookbait in situ as dawn broke. With conditions tough it was the only fish of that particular trip!
Paul’s article recounts his Spring Tench fishing from 2011 and is a very good read, detailing how he had to chop and change tactics and even waters through a taxing Spring (not unlike the one we’re ‘enjoying’ this year to date!
We thought the magazine was a really good read, with other excellent Tench articles to get us all in the mood from Chris Turnbull, Darran Goulder and the Tenchfishers, plus a really interesting interview with Dave Gawthorn, and a thought provoking piece by Tim Paisley on Predation and the Ecology.
