Doncaster specialist angler Danny Johnson recently invested in some Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver 12ft 1¼lb rods, and has immediately been catching specimen fish on them!
First foray was to Esthwaite in the Lake District, where he bagged up with quality Roach. The next trip was out for Perch, and Danny used a ½ oz lead to chuck a Lobworm over to far bank features, using a bobbin for bite indication he took quality fish of 3lb 5oz and 2lb 6oz! Teamed up with a Shimano 5000 Baitrunner reel and 5lb line Danny commented:-
“I have used them a few times now and they are brilliant, handle like a dream!”
But he wasn’t finished there –
“Well, I wasn`t expecting the need to give you any other details about the performance of the Series 7 rods, but I just had to share this with you!
I just had a crafty evening after the perch and had an almighty battle with an eel, in fact it was an eel of 4lb 8oz and a new PB by over 1lb. The incredible thing was it was caught on a single lobworm and 5lb mainline, and took almost 20 mins to land. The power of the eel was unreal but the rod stood up to the test well, every lunge and head shake was felt on the light gear”.
