Mark Boyd’s Isle Of Man Mullet Fishing

Thank you to Mark Boyd from the Isle of Man for sending us some fabulous photos of fish he’s caught from the island recently, including this wonderful Mullet at Sunset!

Mark has bagged numerous quality Mullet from the shoreline to 5lb 6oz recently – all landed on a Drennan Compact Power Float rod and 8lb Supplex mono.

We spotted the fish from the top of a nearby headland. We noticed ‘nervous’ water and hoped mullet were present. After clambering down between gorse, brambles and other thorny thicket we were rewarded with a few grey ghosts milling around in front of us. They were a little further out than we’d hoped, but armed with bubble floats (held in place with Grippa stops due to their weight on the line) and a couple of loaves of bread, we were off! A little mash, and a handful of dry launched out in to the sea and we were ready to rock.

I needed the length of the Power Float rod to lift the 8lb Supplex and set the hook at distance, and needed it’s back bone to control the fish around the rocks! No monsters, but stunning fish and great fighters in the shallow water!” Mark told us.
