With HS2 building a railway through his favourite tench water, Korda TV Production and Project Manager, Gary Newman, had to find a new venue and settled on an 80-acre gravel pit in the home counties.
Arriving for a 48-hour session, Gary got into a swim he fancied. There was thick weed out in front, but after a couple hours spent plumbing around, he found a strip of blanket weed. With his favourite approach being a method ball, Gary was happy to fish over this light weed, with his double buoyant caster hookbait settling on top.
After baiting with chopped worm, hemp and caster throughout the session, Gary enjoyed steady action through the hours of daylight, and landed 20 tench topped by this 11lb 4oz fish. It’s his 35th double figure tench.
