Portsmouth specialist Matt Tann enjoyed his return to the Hampshire Avon with a big haul of top-notch Chub!
Matt wisely targeted areas of well oxygenated water in proximity to a weir pool, and was rewarded with specimens of 6lb (first cast), 6lb 11oz (new PB), then later a 5lb 13oz, 6lb 4oz, 6lb 1oz – and a number of 4lb and 5lb fish. A tremendous haul by anyone’s standards!
Very simple tactics involving stealth and Bread flake legered on a size 12 Wide Gape hook presented on Supplex mainline proved the right approach on the day.
“It was a real red-letter chub day and one I won’t forget for a long time!!” enthused Matt.
