Matt Tann with some of a big haul of Hampshire Avon Chub caught earlier this month using his Matchpro Ultralight 15ft rod!

These fish came the same weekend as the big Dace featured on this page a few days ago, when Matt managed to locate the fish in a new swim he’d created due to the high river levels. The Snowdrops in the background make for nice seasonal decoration!

Matt used a Drennan Big Stick float on 4lb Supplex mainline to a size 14 Wide Gape Specialist hook.

“I switched to the wide gapes after losing several chub the week before due to hook pulls. I thought these being that much wider in the gape would do the trick, and they certainly did!” explained Matt.
