Ashley Burton equalled his own personal best Barbel at the weekend with this 15lb 2oz whacker!  Ash has been having success baiting up in the evening and then fishing at dawn – this one coming at 7.30am during a testing period when lots of weed and debris was coming down in the flow.  Ashley got round this problem with the aid of a Drennan rubber float stop, which used up the mainline helps prevent debris build up on the hooklink.

The big Barbel fell to two hair-rigged 12mm Teme-Severn Lamprey & Spiced Liver boilies, presented in a PVA bag of freebies including some Salips mini-mix pellets.  Ash presented his bait on 15lb clear mono, with his lead attached using a lead clip – a size 11 Drennan Super Specialist Barbel hook being tied to a 12inch length of 15lb Drennan Sink Braid.
