Huge congratulations to well-known specimen angler Alan Stagg, voted this year’s Drennan Cup Winner!
Alan traveled to the Drennan UK headquarters to be presented with the famous trophy, and is pictured above receiving it from the previous champion, Jamie Cartwright.
Alan also collected a winners’ cheque for £2,000, which helps reward the time and dedication put in to chase the biggest coarse fish in the country!
Throughout the 2014-15 season, Alan managed to net himself an impressive 5 Drennan Weekly Awards for a variety of species from all over the UK. He landed huge bream in late Spring, including an unforgettable brace of 17lb 6oz and 17lb 5oz. He also landed a stunning 3lb 5oz rudd, an impressive 15lb 8oz barbel and, to top it all off, a magnificent chalk stream roach weighing 3lb 3oz 8dr!
” It is a huge honour to come out on top of a field of anglers made up of such well-respected and genuinely inspiring people. To have my name on the famous Drennan Cup is as good as it gets,“ added Alan.
