Mike Woods and his friend Kieran have had some great success on their local Norfolk Broads waterways using AS Pole Rigs.

“After finding the fish at my brother’s boat mooring in Brundall we just had to return to have a proper go,” Mike explained.

“Tactics were very simple, fishing 4m whips to hand and I was using one of the Drennan AS Silverfish & F1 readymade rigs, which I have to say was absolutely superb and was perfectly shotted.

“By feeding small nuggets of Sensas Noire and small amounts of maggots I started to catch well and build a weight. Kieran in particular was getting some stunning rudd to over a pound by just loose feeding maggots which seemed to work better for the bigger fish than my groundbait approach, however we were both catching at a similar rate and all the fish were in superb condition. We didn’t weigh in but must of had 25-30lb of fish each. A superb session all round.”

AS Pole Rigs have been designed to the exacting specifications of five times world champion Alan Scotthorne. The Silverfish & F1 Rig is tied in Drennan’s own factories and features an AS3 pole float on 3.5m of 0.15mm Supplex main line to a 0.117mm Supplex hooklength and size 18 Drennan Silverfish Maggot hook. This ready-tied rig is also available in a choice of 0.3g, 0.4g and 0.5g sizes.
