It’s been a nail-biting Day One of the Drennan Knockout Cup Final with 470lb of fish caught by the four finalists! 

In an exciting change of format, four anglers were involved on the Match Lake at Hereford’s Docklow Pools, but only two could progress to the all-important second day on Mickey Mouse Lake.

The four qualifiers are Geoff Vallance, Andy Power and former champions Gary Miller and Rob Wootton. Each has battled their way from a list of over 100 top anglers and competed on venues as diverse as tough canals and tidal rivers to get to the Final.

Even after five hours fishing it wasn’t clear who had progressed until the last angler had weighed in. The top weight was 137lb, with 132lb second and 119lb third. Unbelievable weights considering a more modest 80lb was the more realistic target in the morning.
