The talented Drennan Bordon squad has a promising mix of youngsters coming through their ranks as their 3rd place in the recent Angling Trust Intermedia National proves.
This year’s Intemediate National was fished at Makins Fishery in the Midlands and Drennan Bordon were represented by Matthew Barnett, Alex Clements, Tom Arnot, Alex King, Josh Balodis and Bradley Gibbons. The popular canalised lakes on Phase 3 were chosen for the event, with Derwent, Severn, Thames, Avon and Inner Avon lakes being used.
Bordon’s youth team manager, Mark Eves, commented:
“The team had been up for a few practice sessions beforehand and had formulated a plan. Our draw on the day looked ok, with Bradley on Derwent, Alex Clements on Thames, Matt on Avon, Josh on Inner Avon, with Tom and Alex King both on Severn.
“The fishing on the day was hard, with a few carp feeding early and late and the silvers being noticeable by their absence. However, the team fished brilliantly to finish in 3rd place, just three points off the top two with a score of 37 points!
“Individually, Tom, Bradley and Alex K finished 3rd in their sections, Alex C and Josh finished 4th and Matt 6th.
“Many congratulations to Bag ’em Casts on the win and to Barsnley DAA for coming 2nd. They both tied on 40 points, with Casts winning on weight.
“Overall, the competition was really well run and it was great to see so many young anglers competing! The team are now looking forward to next year’s event, rumoured to be at Partridge Lakes!”
Keep up the great work, Drennan Bordon!
