Thank you to accomplished big Roach specialist Mike Townsend for photos of some of his latest monsters, caught on Carbon Match hooks to nylon!

Mike travelled to a syndicate stillwater and bagged fish of 3lb 1oz, 2lb 7oz and another four between 1lb 8oz and 1lb 15oz – all on Waggler and Caster tactics, earning him a weekly Drennan award in Angling Times last week.

“I used a Drennan Crystal waggler and the Carbon Match pre-tied hooks in size 18. This was a leap of faith for me because I’ve used the Kamasan B611 for big roach on the float for as long as I can remember. I’m happy to say I’ve found my new ‘big roach fishing’ hook because as well as the cracking roach that I caught, my hook lasted me all day too – important for a Yorkshire man!!” Mike told us.
