This particular fish was caught in the Nottawasaga River in Wasaga Beach, Ontario.  The steelhead is a really popular sporting fish in Canada and the US – a type of Sea-Run Rainbow which returns to freshwater to spawn after a couple of years at sea.

Cody describes himself as a younger generation float fisherman, and he likes to use a 13ft float rod and a centrepin reel loaded with 8lb mainline through to 4lb Drennan Fluorocarbon Fly Leader and a self-tied Pink Worm imitation fly.  A Drennan Loafer float is also used in order to help with the bait presentation and to get it into areas difficult to cast to!

Love your floats and leader line, keep up the great work” Cody told us.
