Oxfordshire’s Matt Davies appeared on Drennan Latest recently with a spectacular Thames Roach – and has now applied his midas touch to the Hampshire Avon, bagging this simply gorgeous 15lb 2oz Barbel from the famous Royalty Fishery.

Matt fooled the fish with the ‘old school’ tactics of a large piece of flavoured meat fished on a long tail to give the effect of a piece of rolling meat, but with a more static presentation and without any free offerings.   This was fished on a size 8 Kamasan Barbel Maxx hook on a Drennan Sink Braid hooklength.
