This superb action shot features Drennan’s Sean Trafford using a Martin Bowler Specialist Barbel 12ft 1.75lb rod to play a hard-fighting Barbel on the River Wye this week. After several scorching hot consecutive days in the office this week, Sean and Stewart Moss shot off down to Herefordshire after work on Wednesday for their first river trip of the season (both have been fishing lakes all Spring / Summer to date).
And after ‘baiting and waiting’ for an hour they were both into fish first cast – Sean photographed here by Stewart having hooked a typical Wye Barbel mid-river. With the river still flowing quite hard Sean used a Drennan 70g Heavyweight Cage Feeder to hold bottom, filled with Dynamite Meaty Marine groundbait, with a braided hooklength to a size 10 Kamasan Barbel Maxx hook baited with a hair-rigged pellet. We’ll put up one of the better fish the lads caught later today….
