Sussex specimen angler Simon Buckman has also been amongst the early season Tench in some style – catching 12 in just an evening session recently, despite the inclement weather!

Simon really made the news in the Angling Times last season when he reported a succession of astounding catches on a Tidal Southern river, which included Barbel to 18lb 4oz; if you haven’t already read it, check out his inspiring article “Just One More Bite” on the Drennan Website.

For the Tench fishing Simon has been presenting artificial buoyant maggots presented and balanced on a size 12 Drennan Super Specialist Barbel hook, and is pictured here with a nice brace of dark fish  for over 15lb – a great start to a Spring campaign!
