This happy young angler is Rowan Moss – (son of Drennan’s Stewart Moss) with part of a superb bag of Roach that most much more experienced anglers would be thrilled with! Fishing at Hall Farm Fishery near Great Yarmouth whilst on holiday in Norfolk, they decided to target the Roach, which at most commercial fisheries, get largely ignored by anglers choosing to fish for carp.
Using a Red Range 11ft Carp Waggler rod and Series 7 Float 9-30 reel, Rowan float fished double red maggot under a Puddlechucker float – and with constant feeding, got ‘bite a chuck’ fishing just a rod length out, for several hours! And they were quality fish too – probably averaging 4oz and with many up to almost 1lb. After a few hours enjoyable sport and having sharpened his basic skills, Rowan was allowed to switch to the match lake to try to catch his first carp – a very exciting prospect indeed for an 8-year old!
Using exactly the same tactics, the happy youngster was able to catch six carp topped by this 4lb 1oz Mirror! The hard fighting fish really made Rowan work hard playing them on float gear, but the smile says it all.
The Drennan Red Range Rods represent really good value and performance, and are surprisingly well finished – click here for further details.
