This record-shaking 4lb 7oz crucian topped an incredible catch of the species.

Nigel Kennard fished a lake in Surrey over eight days and he landed no less than four crucians over 4lb, 21 over the 3lb mark and six 2lb plus fish.

The biggest crucian he caught falls just 3oz short of the current British record. All of his fish were taken when he alternated imitation maggot and caster hookbaits in conjunction with In-line Flatbed Method Feeders and 6lb mainline.
