After a slow start to the session, Jack Pells made a few slight changes to his setup and bites came almost instantly.
Changing from a Drennan Crystal Waggler to a Driftbeater provided Jack with a much more sensitive set-up, enabling him to hit the smallest of dips and lifts on the float.
After a small dip on the Driftbeater not long after switching, Jack struck into what he thought was a small tench. The fish put up a spirited fight but eventually found the power of the 13ft Drennan Series 7 Tench and Specimen Float rod too much and a bar of gold in the shape of a 3lb crucian rolled over on the surface and found it’s way into the net.
“I’m quite sure that had I not made changes, I wouldn’t have had such an enjoyable session which included three crucians and seven tench,” he added.
