Carl Eland had an unforgettable day on the River Thames after catching a match-winning 37lb 14oz of roach in the latest Oxford DAA open.
The Drennan Oxford squad member drew the bottom end peg at Medley and had quality roach on the pole and caster at 10 metres with an 0.5g strung-out rig.
Steve Harwood was second with 29lb 3oz from Sandy Point and Kevin Holmes (Sensas A4) managed 24lb 2oz next to the winner for third. The last four pegs caught 100lb of roach between them as the fish were clearly showing signs of shoaling up before moving into their winter quarters.
