Despite a flat calm day and bright sunshine, the Islands Lake was in good form for the second leg of the Drennan Silverfish League.

Last years winner, Kyle Hartley employed his worm and caster approach to good effect on peg 8 to win the match with an excellent mixed bag of skimmers, crucians, roach, F1s and a bonus 2lb 8oz perch for a total weight of 51lbs 4oz.

Dave Mountford went for an all-out pellet approach on peg 10 and finished the match on 45lb 3oz.

Grimsby`s Dennis Pattinson concentrated on a maggot approach and should have weighed in more, but thanks to a good sized hole in the bottom of his keepnet courtesy of a mouse he weighed in slightly less than expected! Having caught good sized crucians and F1s all match, Dennis was amazed to only weigh in 36lb 8oz until the reason became apparent.
